What do Blogs have to do with Making Money?

I was reading a blog post on a very popular blog and the author was recommending never to blog about how much money blogs make. However that was the name of his free report and how much he had made from blogging. Well excuse my blog etitquette because making money from blogging is just too darn interesting not to talk about.

While surfing in the Blogosphere I came across Paula Neal Mooneys list of Bloggers and some amounts of money some notable and not so notable bloggers are making from blogging. Some are impressive, some are very impressive and some are wannabees, but don't tell them because we do this because we love it! Right? Below is a 6 digit Monthly check for blogging, thats right, I said Monthly.  And that was just once source of many for this blog.

Recently, while bouncing around blog after blog I came upon a cool little technorati widget at Dane Carlson's Business Opportunities Weblong Network. Warning........this can become addictive. I started putting  my favorite websites into this widget to calculate a websites “worth”. By the way if you put in Danes website its only rings in at $6,220,101.72 Now some may say this is purely for entertainment but I would say this is a good indication of how alive and connected your website is. For some if they ever decided to sell their blog this would be very useful indeed. (depending on the value) One thing about blogs though is that there could be some blogs making a ton of loot that can not be measured from looking form the outside in. You have your joint ventures, email campaigns, original products and services just to name a few.

I started to try and guess what a blog may be worth before entering any information at all and I have to admit sometimes it makes me gasp. I remember the first time I visited TechCrunch, the site is full of information and very clean and easy on the eyes but who knew it would weigh in at $12,679,003.86, actually they posted about 3 million in 2007.  But remember, blogging is only a tool/weapon in your business arsenal.  The residual income you could make with a high traffic blog could include joint ventures with product owners, private membership sites, email list promotions, promotion of your own product, not to mention the sale of the blog itself.

When selling a high traffic blog one could get roughly 6 to 12 months revenue in one lump sum. Not bad. Like everything else that sells...the value is really in the eyes of the beholder....and cold hard cash on hand.

Blogging should be fun, you can be personal and add a wide array of media.  The professional contacts you can make is unlimited along with the ever growing list of widgets you can add that automate many functions on your blog.  Remember, your blog is an expression of you and that first visual impression goes along way. Some will overlook an ugly template if the content is excellent but its good to have a visually appealling format that creates repeat visitors. For the record, the best blogging platform on the internet that I personally recommend and use is blogi360.
